The Offertory Vir Erat with chant pages and recording

There was in that country a man
named Job, simple and upright
and God-fearing,
whom Satan asked to tempt:
and power was given him by
the Lord over his possessions,
and over his flesh:
he destroyed all his goods,
and his children,
and wounded his flesh with a
grievous sore.
If only my sins,

If only my sins,
for which I have merited wrath,
could be weighed in the balance:
the calamity I suffer would
appear greater.

Where is my strength
that I might hold out,
or my end, that I
might act patiently? (repeated)

Is my strength that of stone,
or is my flesh made of bronze?
(repeated)

For my eye will never
return to see good things.
(repeated)
